Kimi Raikkonen has not ruled out a future return to Ferrari or McLaren. It was confirmed on Monday that the 2007 world champion, in his first season back in the sport after two years competing in the World Rally Championship, would stay with Lotus for 2013.

But the 33 year-old told The Daily Telegraph he believes anything is possible in Formula One.

Despite not having won a race this year, Raikkonen currently sits in third place in the drivers’ championship, above Red Bull’s Mark Webber and the McLaren pair of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button. The Finn’s pace, always highly rated, has been matched by his impressive consistency.

Raikkonen has scored points in every grand prix bar one – China – beating his younger team mate Romain Grosjean 15 times out of 17 in the process. Grosjean’s seat for next year has not yet been confirmed by Lotus.
