Kimi Raikkonen says he is hopeful of a strong weekend at the Hungaroring on the back of a solid performance in Friday practice.

The Lotus driver set the second fastest time over the course of the two 90 minute sessions and will aim to build on the pace he displayed in order to try and improve on his qualifying performance on Saturday.

With the team having worked to improve the car in recent events, Raikkonen said he felt the team was going in the right direction and said he was hopeful of a strong qualifying performance to set him up for race day.

“It was a normal Friday for me,” he said. “We did the normal things and tried to make the car as quick as it can be. We were second fastest which was good, and we've managed to improve the setup on my car over the last few races so I've been pretty happy with it. We're just making small improvements, but we're making them all the time and going in the right direction. It's only Friday, but we're hoping for another good day tomorrow. ”

Raikkonen again ran Lotus' new aerodynamic package during the Friday sessions, with technical director James Allison revealing that the team was moving closer to giving it a race debut.
