Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen has insisted that they still need to make some essential improvements in their car so as to fight for the 2012 Formula 1 World Championship.

Raikkonen said that he is still facing some issue in his car’s steering which has hindered his performance a little bit in the first half of the season. Moreover, he said that it is very important for them to make the considerable advancements in their car.

“It's not perfect, it's still not. It's improved a lot since we started but there's still a way to go. It's OK to race, it's not like it's somehow going to make me one second faster or half a second faster if we're going to get it exactly where we want but I've driven the better ones and there's definitely still things we can improve and we're working for it but it's not the easiest thing to get right so we have to work on those and hopefully at some point we'll get it exactly as we want,” he said.

The Finnish driver is presently standing at 4th place in the drivers’ championship with 98 points. Besides, he is ahead of Lewis Hamilton of McLaren and is behind the defending champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing.
