Raikkonen: I just couldn’t make a pass

Kimi Raikkonen admitted it was a shame to have missed out on a potential victory in the Hungarian Grand Prix after running Lewis Hamilton close in Budapest.

Despite an issue with his KERS costing him in the early stages of the race, the Finn made his strategy of running two stints on soft tyres before switching to the medium compound Pirelli rubber for the final stint work to perfection to vault up the order into second spot.

Although the former champion pushed hard in the closing stages to catch leader Hamilton, he was unable to find a way through into the lead and instead had to settle for the second step of the podium and he insisted it was a good result for his Lotus team.
